Listed below are instructions for locating the MAC addresses on some popular speaker brands. If your device is not listed, please search online for how to find the MAC address for your specific device and follow the provided instructions.
Amazon Echo Speakers
The following instructions are applicable to the Amazon Echo, Echo Tap, and Echo Dot.
- Download the Amazon Alexa app to your smartphone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account
- Plug in the Echo using the included power adapter
- Connect to the wireless network broadcasted by your Echo
- Broadcasting a network from your Echo is only allowed during setup.
- Broadcasting a network from your Echo after setup is a violation of the Computer Network Usage and Security Policy.
- Find your Echo's MAC address at the bottom of the first screen in the Alexa app
Bose SoundTouch Speakers
You can find your Bose speaker's MAC address in the SoundTouch App:
- Go to "Explore"
- Select "Settings"
- Select "About"
- You should now see a list of devices associated with your account. Just select the device you need the MAC address for, and it will be displayed.
Google Home Speakers
- Download the Google Home app to your smartphone
- Plug in the Google Home using the included power adapter
- Open the Google Home app
- If prompted to allow location permissions, please do so
- Select your Google Home from the list of devices, then click Set Up
- You will be prompted to allow your phone to connect to a hotspot broadcast by the Google Home device. Accept the prompt
- A test sound will play to confirm you are connected to the correct device. Please respond to the displayed question based on what you hear. ensure
- Enter the street address of your Google Home location, then click Continue
- Take note of the MAC address shown in the bottom right corner of the screen. It will appear as a combination of letters and numbers separated by colons. You’ll need this information later.
Sonos System Speakers
The wired MAC address for your Sonos speakers can be found on the bottom of the device (see below).
If you are connecting your Sonos via a wireless connection, just add a letter or number to the last digit of the wired MAC address. This will enable our network to recognize it as a wireless device.
For example, if the wired MAC address ends in 2C would have a wireless MAC address that ends in 2D.
